Kennebunkport in the Sun

 We went back up to Kennebunkport on a mission to photograph President Bush's home in the sun upon our return to Wells.  It is only a short drive northeast from Wells.  The tourist trade is alive and prospering along the streets of Kennebunkport now with everyone savoring summer as opposed to the rainy trip through town we made here in June.  There is a festive atmosphere and people are on the streets everywhere or sitting at outdoor tables people watching while sipping ice tea or wine.  Shop doors are open to tempt tourists in to review their wares and horse drawn carriages tour summer sojourners about.  Children carry ice cream while parents attempt to keep more of the sweet confection in them than on them.  Lovers of all ages stroll hand in hand.

The sky is so blue that it seems surreal and photographs have the appearance of paintings.  A light breeze swirls the outdoor wind sculptures drawing the attention of every passerby including those of us in cars.

Horse drawn carriages, hanging flowers, shops and galleries adorn Kennebunkport's streets.

Finally, we achieve our goal seeing the President's home bathed in the late afternoon sun.  The scene is a sharp contrast to the wet and misty trip of June.

The compound is surrounded by the sea on three sides.

The nearby Episcopal church also sits on a point near the sea.

As we travel back down to Wells, we see the salt flats in the late afternoon sun reflecting a warmth that only summer can deliver.  This is indeed a beautiful place on earth.
