This week was another week of just cruising around Bradenton and Sarasota enjoying the weather and sights. We did go to Venice (just south of Sarasota) during one trip to Sarasota. It is similar to Bradenton and the beautiful white beaches continue there. There are palm lined streets to drive through. Venice was homesteaded in 1870 becoming a center for citrus growing, fishing and boat building. The first train line reached the town in 1911. Venice is infamous for being the location where three of the 9/11 hijackers learned how to fly. Apart from that notorious event the area seems like a quiet community of "snowbirds" and retirees.
