Sand Sculpting

Early morning, coffee, the beach and sand sculpting.  Marvelous.  We got to the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition on Monday after a windy and rainy weekend.  In spite of the weather, the sculptures were impressive and larger than I would have imagined.

We were there early enough that we beat the crowds and only the event monitors were busy about the sculptures taking photos.  You can judge the size of some of these by comparing them to the height of the adults around them in lime green tee shirts.

A donkey hugs an elephant over a broken brick wall while "the people" look on.
The area was roped off so we could not get up next to the sculptures, but nevertheless the creativity and detail were abundantly evident.
