Boothbay Harbor, Maine

Today we traveled back south through Wiscasset and Bath, Maine to Boothbay Harbor to inspect four parks.  The parks were divided by inlets of the ocean that surround the peninsula which contains Boothbay Harbor.  So we did lots of driving up and down along the water’s edge to reach the various parks.  The coast line here is rocky with bits of sandy beach interspersed among lots of mud flats where the water moves in and out with the tides.  We saw lots of clam digging going on and lobsters are purveyed everywhere either alive or cooked.  One park owner told us that she is lucky enough to have hard sand in her bay area and the sand warms up in the sun when the tide is out.  As the water returns, the sand heats the water and they have 90 degree water to swim in.  That sounds heavenly to me.

The weather was beautiful today in the 70’s with clear and sunny skies.  It is obvious that people are getting here for the summer with restaurants, kayaking, charter boats and ice cream parlors all doing a brisk business.  We sat out on a deck over the water in Boothbay Harbor for lunch under red umbrellas so we look like we have major sunburns, however that is not the case.  The harbor activity was great to watch as we ate our lunch.  Here are some views of our day...

Snoopy’s Corner:

Today Mom and Dad ran into two of the cutest French poodles.  They are so cute but way too big for me to meet.  I like the dog next door at our RV park though and I have to get a photo of him.  He has beautiful black spots and he is the same height as me so I am not as nervous watching him from the window as I would be if the French poodles lived next door.

We are two year old twins.
